Coppell eliminated from playoff contention
By Chris Roark, Staff Writer
FLOWER MOUND — The Coppell football team’s hopes of making the playoffs came to an end Friday with a 23-16 loss to Flower Mound.
The loss, coupled with Lewisville’s win Thursday, means Coppell can finish in a tie for fourth place at best. But Lewisville would advance since it beat the Cowboys earlier in the season.
Dalton Williams threw for 229 yards to lead Coppell, and Evans Okotcha ran for 94 yards. Okotcha’s 44-yard touchdown run in the first quarter tied the game, 7-7. But Collin Ashley’s 30-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Colquitt in the second quarter regained the lead for Flower Mound.
